After hearing Tom perform in Vienna, Bösendorfer pianos invited him to their workshop to try their new instrument, the 280 VC Concert Grand. When European label CAM Jazz suggested the idea of a new solo recording for their second release with Tom, England, Italy and Austria came together for a special and memorable session. Given the freedom of the piano factory for three days, Tom's new music came to life in the spirit of exploration and spontaneity.

 

As well as 8 new compositions there are also fresh interpretations of pieces from two of his greatest influences, Kenny Wheeler and John Taylor, as well as touches of the blues, Japanese forests and even a moment of Charles Mingus.

Tom has released three recordings with Matt Ridley's 'Antidote' project, performing and recording live at the London Jazz Festival and being named Jazzwise editor's album of the year.

​

He has written and performed widely with a long list of musicians, and is currently working on a new project with vocalist, composer and long-time collaborator Fini Bearman.
